Counter-UAS (C-UAS) requires an accurate picture of the operating area. Small UAS are enemy ISR platforms and a threat to warfighters and logistics. Group 3 and larger UAS represent increased lethality and enhanced EW and ISR capabilities. As commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions, Echodyne radars achieve optimal threat symmetry – a low-cost solution for a low-cost threat – and provide high-performance situational awareness for fixed, temporary, on-the-halt (OTH), and on-the-move (OTM) requirements. Echodyne radars’ high-speed 4D accuracy delivers flawless optical tracking for “eyes on object” and reliable precision for targeting systems and non-kinetic effectors. Data fidelity makes all the difference to mission success. More accurate data rapidly ingested creates better systems and safer outcomes. With both processed and unprocessed data options, Echodyne radars generate the most accurate data for detecting, tracking, targeting, and mitigating UAS intruders.
Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) envisions the lower airspace alive with uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs). Over time, new generations of aircraft with novel propulsion systems and vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) capabilities will move goods and people across communities with greater economic and environmental efficiency. Two distinct needs will emerge, each based on sensor capabilities that extend onboard or remote pilot capabilities for beyond the visual line of sight (BVLOS) flight. One, small aircraft delivering things from the lifesaving to the trivial. Two, larger aircraft ferrying passengers and delivering cargo. Each will have safety performance requirements that only radar can deliver.
The robustness of onboard systems for airspace situational awareness and safe navigation is a decision for regulatory authorities. Smaller aircraft would pay a very steep operational tax for layered sensors to detect uncooperative traffic. Larger aircraft with greater safety-of-life risk are likely to opt for complementary airspace situational awareness data to enhance the safety case. In the context of dense flight areas, such as cities, corridors, and drone ports, a network of ground-based sensors generating rich airspace situational awareness data benefits all fliers and has substantial cost and operational advantages over onboard sensors alone or, in some cases, at all. Radar data is easily consumed by UAS Service Suppliers (USS) and integrated with UAS traffic management (UTM) data feeds for managed airspace that accelerates advanced air mobility.
More than ever, situational awareness is a key factor to fleet protection. The current marine battlefield is constantly evolving, as latest-generation technologies emerge. Threats are multiplying and take various forms. To answer the growing needs in terms of embedded Infrared Search and Track systems required by worldwide navies, HGH Infrared Systems provides an IRST solution based on the SPYNEL wide area surveillance camera: a passive early warning system embedded on your ship for a 360° protection against asymmetrical threats.
Military bases, whether temporary or permanent, require to be secured against potential terrorist attack or enemy incursion. Deployed in a hostile and isolated environment, outside the base camp, the surveillance of military mobile station is key to ensure soldiers and operations are safe and secure. A rapid deployment of a SPYNEL thermal imaging camera on the shelter roof or on a mast provides a protection bubble of the shelter and its surroundings whilst enabling soldiers to keep focused on their mission.
During a conflict between two states, the first attack strategy is to establish air superiority by destroying the air defense systems and military infrastructures throughout the enemy country. To maintain airspace sovereignty, Command and Control (C2) centres rely on surface radars to provide them with a real-time air surveillance picture. Nevertheless adversaries now have unprecedented means to render 2D or 3D radar inoperable. SPYNEL® Infrared Search and Track is a passive electro-optical system providing automatic detection, tracking and classification of a large variety of threats including aircrafts, helicopters and drones while remaining undetectable. With its real-time thermal panoramic video stream of the air space, SPYNEL is a reliable and mobile solution to alert and protect land forces in emergency situation. It can be easily used with Very Short-Range Air Defence (V-SHORAD) systems to provide a fully passive air defence solution – from detection to reaction, undetectable by the enemy.
